We’ve got just the thing to cheer you up! The video is from a 1965 Bollywood movie, “Gumnaam” but the audio is from Denver-based band We Like Monsters. Joe Crowley, the band’s guitarist, has done an excellent job editing the video and audio so they line up — but the cognitive dissonance will make you smile.

This is fun to watch. I don’t get why they called it “Le Tigre” though. (Brief mental image of a tiger wearing a beret.) Anyway, the whole thing is silly, but very well done. You’ll smile, I promise.

The band got their start from the friendship between Crowley and Timothy White (vocals and keys), who started working together as teenagers. They are joined by Somchai Peri (bass), and Brian Campbell (synthesizer, samples and trumpet).

You’ll need to be near Denver to hear them live, but we hope that will change (because our travel budget is non-existent.)

We like this song, too, but there’s no video (maybe it’s still in production?) just a still image. It’s worth a listen, though. Like the video above, this song seems to blend different cultures/genres for an inventive sound.

One more, this one recorded live at the Larimer Lounge in Denver, by Zoonadu Productions. This makes me think of Arcade Fire. Comparisons aren’t really fair though, it’s a unique sound, and I get the feeling that this band is still evolving. Maybe those are just landmarks.
