Altair: We got a Parachain! Again!
Altair to continue as home for cutting-edge technology development for the Centrifuge app
We’re thrilled to announce that Altair successfully secured a new parachain slot on Kusama!
This auction win will ensure Altair continues to operate past its current lease. The auction close comes at an exciting time — just as the first pool on the Altair App has gone live. (Check out the latest developments here.)
The slot extension was self-funded by the Centrifuge Network Foundation. This model allows existing AIR reserves to be directed to building Altair, preparing pools, and supporting developer initiatives.
To ensure its place as a parachain, Altair proactively bid and won the 46th Kusama Auction as a parathread during the 23–30 lease period. The auction began at block #13708800, which resulted in Slot #47 secured through 16 July 2023 for Altair .
Candle auctions are unpredictable, and we’re all energized by the amazing luck we had in this round. Altair won the auction via VRF — the candle blew out at Jul 27, 17:04:24 (this is a randomly selected block after the auction ends).
Since launching at the beginning of October 2021, Altair has been building essential functionality as the experimental testnet for Centrifuge and as the Real-World Asset (RWA) financing playground for the Kusama ecosystem.
The unlocking of KSM will happen automatically on the 2022–08–08 in case a contributor participated with a direct contribution (via the crowdloan module).
What’s Next
We’re excited for Connectors, a hybrid cross-chain solution launching in partnership with Ava Labs, Moonbeam, and Nomad to bring the trillion-dollar Real-World Asset (RWA) market on-chain.
More new developments are expected to launch on Altair in the coming months, as well.
