This Tuesday, the Binance cryptocurrency exchange announced the award of accreditation in the field of information security in accordance with the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

To confirm compliance with the international standard ISO / IEC 27001, the exchange was audited by the Norwegian certification and classification society DNV GL and the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS).

As Binance notes, they became “the first cryptocurrency company approved by DNV and UKAS.”

During the audit, Binance was tested for compliance with 114 criteria in 14 categories, including security policies, asset management, operational security and information systems.

“Obtaining an ISO certification is an important aspect of our commitment to safety before the industry and the community. We will continue to develop investments and work to increase cybersecurity,” said Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance.

Binance’s interest in obtaining accreditation can also be explained by the desire to convince users of its safety after the loss of 7,000 Bitcoins as a result of a hacker attack this year.
