Taiwanese company TSMC, which is the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer and supplier of chips for Bitmain miners, has faced numerous lawsuits from its rival GlobalFoundries.

The American company GlobalFoundries is the second-largest semiconductor manufacturing plant after TSMC. A few days ago, the company filed several lawsuits in the US and Germany, accusing TSMC of infringing 16 patents. GlobalFoundries claims the violations concern 7nm, 10nm, 16nm and 28nm chips.

GlobalFoundries wants to ban TSMC from importing semiconductors into the US and Germany, as they are allegedly made using stolen technology. In addition, GlobalFoundries claims damages based on the unlawful use of TSMC’s patented technology and illegal profits of billions of dollars.

Interestingly, the defendants also include Apple and Nvidia, six chip makers and ten consumer goods suppliers such as Google, ASUS and Lenovo.

TSMC has published an official statement stating that GlobalFoundries claims are unfounded and the Taiwanese manufacturer intends to defend itself. TSMC is disappointed that a competitor has resorted to shameful lawsuits instead of competing with real technology.
