Bitmain this Friday announced plans to launch a platform that will allow hardware owners to connect with cryptocurrency mining farms.

The service is called the World Digital Mining Card (WDMM) and will be officially launched at the miners summit, which will be held in Frankfurt on October 8–10. Visitors to the event will be given priority access.

“The WDMM will help to make cryptocurrency mining more sustainable in the long-run by connecting mining farms and hardware owners in a whole new way. It is part of our commitment to provide miners with on-going support throughout their hardware’s lifetime and to support the sector’s overall growth,” said Matthew Wang, director of mining farms for Bitmain.

It is assumed that WDMM will contain information on the energy efficiency of mining farms, their capacity and other information that individual miners can rely on when choosing a site for placing their equipment. Thus, WDMM will serve as an open market where miners will be able to find the most suitable options for equipment placement. Bitmain promises to support cooperative farms in the construction, maintenance of premises and relations with foreign customers.

The company did not specify whether Bitmain itself would invest in farms and charge fees for using the marketplace.
