Altcoin News: Chinese People Show Increased Interest in Ethereum at Google
Portal LongHash published the results of the study, in which it was estimated the popularity of requests related to Bitcoin and Ethereum, in the Google search engine among residents of various countries of the world.
Since Google Trends does not display detailed information about the number of search queries, the study uses the comparative frequency of mentioning one and the other term when performing a search on Google per capita.
As can be seen in the image below, the relative popularity of Bitcoin was highest in Nigeria, the relative popularity of Ethereum — in Kosovo. The increased demand for Bitcoin in the first case can be explained by the catastrophic level of inflation of the local currency, which is why people in the country are forced to resort to alternative solutions, such as cryptocurrencies.
As for the Republic of Kosovo and Ethereum, according to Reuters observations, this region enjoys increased popularity among miners.
It should be noted that only English terms were used in the study. In addition, Google is not equally in demand in different countries, which could also affect the results.
As for countries with higher population size, China’s indicator is remarkable, which is only slightly inferior to the closest competitor in terms of relative interest in Ethereum per capita. The share of requests for Bitcoin, in this case, turned out to be insignificant.
There is also a trend towards the interest in Bitcoin among Africans, in particular, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya. Asians, including residents of China and South Korea, have a greater interest in Ethereum, at least when they make inquiries in English.
