The volume of transactions and the activity of users of decentralized applications decreased in the third quarter, according to a study by DApp.com, which tracks applications Ethereum, EOS, Steem, Tron, TomoChain and IOST, which represent an entire ecosystem of blockchains with the most active users on the market.

In the third quarter, decentralized applications in all the mentioned networks showed a total turnover of $2.03 billion, which is 40% less than in the second. Only 36% of users of decentralized applications from the second quarter made at least one transaction in the third, the study authors say.

EOS turned out to be the leader in terms of the number of regular users — 40% of them interacted with decentralized applications in the second and third quarters. For Ethereum and Tron, the rate was 5% and 15%, respectively. At the same time, the number of new users of decentralized EOS applications has increased the least, while Ethereum has remained relatively constant at 80,000 cryptocurrency holders.

Ethereum also leads as the most popular blockchain for building applications, Tron takes second place. The growth of decentralized financial services (DeFi) in the third quarter amounted to $525 million, of which 88% fell on Ethereum.

“500,000+ new users access to dapps in Q3. Over 138,000 (27.6%) of them started picking up dapps for Finance services and over 170,000 (34%) of them were bought into space by Gambling dapps,” DApp.com states.
