Altcoin News: Facebook Cryptocurrency Already Getting Ready for Listing on Crypto Exchanges

March 1, 2019, by Marko Vidrih on ALTCOIN MAGAZINE

According to anonymous insider information, The New York Times reports that the largest social network has already prepared the launch of its own cryptocurrency and is already in talks with the exchanges for listing.

It is reported that we are talking about stable coin under the brand of messenger WhatsApp. The new coin will be pegged to the US dollar and used for domestic and international transfers between friends and family members via instant messenger. In the future, the stable coin will become available to users of Facebook and Instagram — the audience of these services is estimated at billions of people from around the world.

“If Facebook creates a stable coin for WhatsApp, then it’s no longer about cryptocurrencies, but creating a dominant global product that will change the lives of billions of people,” said Anthony Pompliano, founder of Morgan Creek Digital.

Unfortunately, at the moment there is no official confirmation from Facebook, and the launch date of the new cryptocurrency is unknown. Also, there is no information about the exchanges to which it is planned to add a stable coin.

Note that last year Facebook turned to blockchain technology, and this year the social network acquired a small blockchain startup Chainspace, which was founded by researchers from University College London. Initially, the creation of cryptocurrency for WhatsApp users became known at the end of last year.
