Altcoin News: NFL Footballer Becomes a Passionate Bitcoin Advocate
Russell Okung, a football player from the Los Angeles Chargers, has held its own Bitcoin conference to promote the mass-marketability of the market-leading cryptocurrency.
The event, which took place on September 1 in Los Angeles, invited several notable representatives of the crypto industry, including Morgan Creek co-founder Anthony Pompliano, Bitcoin developer Jimmy Song, eToro analyst Mati Greenspan and podcast host Peter McCormack.
However, some voices from the crypto community are puzzled by professional Bitcoin Okung’s passion for Bitcoin, jokingly calling it the Ode of 2017, the year when cryptocurrency hype was the biggest he’d ever seen in Bitcoin’s record high.
However, other voices in turn praise that a prominent football player like Okung — football enjoys the greatest media attention among US sports — could help focus public attention on Bitcoin.
After all, the self-declared goal of the held crypto conference is to make Bitcoin suitable for the mass market.
Speaking in Nigeria, Okung pointed out that his family had experienced the problems of limited access to the banking system in their own lives, which in turn encouraged him to work for Bitcoin, as the cryptocurrency was used for financial support Independence could provide. So Okung has also said in this context:
“When someone asks me “what is Bitcoin?” I always answer “what is freedom?””
In his foreword to the event, Okung has already announced that he plans to hold further conferences, working with several well-known individuals and brands to implement the vision of Bitcoin, which aims for a “global economic revolution.”
