The Oxford English Dictionary has officially added the word Satoshi to its database as part of its quarterly update.

According to the definition of the dictionary, Satoshi is “is the smallest monetary unit in the Bitcoin cryptocurrency, and is named after Satoshi Nakamoto, the — probably pseudonymous — developer(s) of Bitcoin”.

In December 2014, the word “Bitcoin” was added to the dictionary, which, according to the authors, is “ a ‘new electronic cash system’ which is ‘fully peer to peer, with no trusted third party’ handling payments between buyer and seller.”.

Also, the word “cryptocurrency” was added to the Oxford Dictionary, as a rare example of its use “An informal, substitute currency” is used, and as a standard example, “any of the whole variety of digital payment systems that operates independently of the central government and uses cryptographic methods to control and verification of transactions using a unique accounting unit; also a set of accounting units in such a system.”

In addition, the Oxford Dictionary contains concepts such as blockchain and miner.
