Altcoin News: Survey: 89% of Americans Have Heard of Bitcoin
As shown by a survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Blockchain Capital, despite the fall in the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin popularity continues to grow.
The report says that 89% of Americans have heard of Bitcoin, whereas in 2017 only 77% of respondents had an idea what the first cryptocurrency is. Interestingly, Bitcoin awareness does not depend on age — respondents of all age categories answered the same.
“Bitcoin awareness, familiarity, perception, conviction, propensity to purchase and ownership all increased/improved significantly,” the researchers note.
Interestingly, the first survey was conducted during the growth of the market (bull market), and the second — after its fall (bear market), but this did not affect the perception of the cryptocurrency. The positive trend is especially well marked among young respondents aged 18 to 34 years.
The survey showed that more than half of the respondents in this age category are “at least somewhat familiar” with the first cryptocurrency. The same percentage of respondents believes that Bitcoin is a “positive innovation in financial technology.”
“Among those aged 18–34: Nearly 1 in 3 prefers Bitcoin to government bonds, more than 1 in 4 prefers Bitcoin to stocks, nearly 1 in 4 prefers Bitcoin to real estate and more than 1 in 5 prefers Bitcoin to gold,” the survey says.
