The Turkish government has announced plans to build infrastructure using Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) in public administration.

The relevant plans were presented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey in its development strategy until 2023. Using blockchain and distributed registry technology is one of the key aspects of the strategy. The document contains a link to a study by Startup Genome, according to which blockchain is one of the fastest-growing trends in technology.

It is planned that an open blockchain platform will be created in Turkey, which will be used in various situations. The authorities will appreciate the possibilities and advantages of the blockchain for registering rights to land plots, storing graduate diplomas and for customs clearance of goods.

The Ministry of Industry and Technology, together with supervisors, is going to launch a regulatory sandbox for testing blockchain systems.

Note that Turkey is one of the world leaders in the adoption of cryptocurrencies. A study by the German company Statista showed that 20% of the country’s population owns or uses crypto assets.
