The US presidential candidate in the 2020 election, Andrew Yang is about to integrate blockchain into the voting process.

On his website, Yang writes: “It’s ridiculous that in 2020 we are still standing in line for hours to vote in antiquated voting booths.”

Yang claims that now there is a complete technical opportunity to implement a fraud-protected voting process using mobile phones.

It is 100% technically possible to have fraud-proof voting on our mobile phones today using the blockchain. This would revolutionize true democracy and increase participation to include all Americans — those without smartphones could use the legacy system and lines would be very short.”

At the same time, experts at the Technology Review journal at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology noted that the use of blockchain in polls does not reduce, but, on the contrary, increases the risks of cybersecurity. In particular, their doubts are related to the protection of devices connected to the Internet and the possibility of creating an “ online system that preserves all the attributes we expect from democratic elections would be incredibly difficult to pull off.”

Earlier, Yang promised to streamline the regulation of the cryptocurrency market in the event that he is elected president of the United States.
