Google has excluded the browser wallet MetaMask from its Google Play app store for Android devices, developers said on Thursday.

According to them, the client was suspended last week. As a justification, Google referred to its policies prohibiting mining applications on mobile phones. However, the MetaMask application did not have the corresponding functionality, the developers say.

Subsequently, they tried to appeal to the decision of the company, but Google refused to lift the ban.

“It’s unclear whether the reviewer doesn’t understand the policy, or whether they are enforcing an unwritten policy,” writes MetaMask.

The developers also note that Google is not the first time to spontaneously block their application. Earlier, after outrage in the community, the application was returned to Google Play.

“ This isn’t the only sudden and unexplained ban that @google has issued this week. There was also a sudden ban of many #crypto @YouTube accounts. Google may be testing the crypto community’s resolve. So please, speak out, and show Google that you will not support a platform that censors disintermediation. Plenty of other great browsers out there with @Firefox and @brave. Some nice YouTube alternatives are coming around, too.”

Recall that at the beginning of the year, malware spread under the guise of MetaMask on Google Play.
