On Innovation: Powerful Lessons On Building Blockchain Applications.

I used to ask myself.

How can we get this Blockchain Message across to everyone?

I was introduced to the Blockchain world via an article I read online on 99Bitcoins

I did further research and came across the materials of people like Andreas M. Antonopoulos.

Those materials served as eye-openers and helped me understand the Importance of the Blockchain.

While it is true that every Innovation passes through five stages of adoption, there is a need to work with time in mind.

It is true that Blockchain adoption will take time, but that does not mean that efforts should not be put into Innovating constantly to achieve it.

The Need For Storytelling

I have always shared my Blockchain story with people who wanted to know what the Blockchain can help them achieve.

Decentralized Blockchain Platform like Steemit and Steemhunt has helped me build a personal brand and also financial Independence for myself.

Decentralization takes power from a group of people and gives it to everyone who participates in a particular network

When it comes to marketing Blockchain applications, we have seen the use of marketing tactics like Google Ads and even Influencer marketing.

We have also seen the disadvantages of relying solely on such forms of marketing, centralized platforms like Google can pull the plug anytime.

Influencer marketers have faced pressure from their nation of origin.

I personally don’t have full confidence in the use of Influencer marketing in creating awareness for Blockchain applications.

Marketing blockchain applications go beyond creating hype for a particular Blockchain product or Service.

It involves storytelling that shows it’s an ability to spark a massive difference from the Status quo

The average person on the street does not know the significance of having a Block speed of 1 second against that of others which are 3 or 10 seconds.

There is a Need To Build Tribes

The biggest tribe in the Blockchain world is the Bitcoin tribe.

This should not come as a surprise.

Bitcoin was the first Infrastructure built on the Blockchain and it has a central message which is rooted in financial Independence for everyone.

The Genesis Block of Bitcoin has a message in it that shows the inadequacies of the present system and calls out to everyone to come onboard the new world of finance.

The values or the code holding the Bitcoin Tribe together goes beyond things like Block Speed or current Market capitalization.

There is a story behind the blocks that act as a central message for all who choose to embrace the technology.

We are Satoshi

There have been a lot of speculations as to who Satoshi Nakamoto truly is, however by all Indications, the success of Bitcoin does not depend on knowing who he is.

Like all Great Men, Satoshi has successfully created a system that keeps running even in his absence.

This is something that can be only achieved via storytelling and not just Marketing.

Building a tribe around something Involves making your objectives clear from the beginning.

This is Instrumental in attracting people who really believe in the Ideology of what you are offering.

As an Innovator, Your prime focus should be solving the problems of people no matter how few their Number is.

The Need For Remarkable Infrastructures.

One of the Blockchain applications that grabbed my Interest last year was Steemhunt.

They stated on their website that they are not going through the now popular route of creating a 90% fictional whitepaper for their Application.

What they did Instead was to find a Blockchain that could support the Infrastructure they need to build and they got to work.

Steemhunt has been existing for ten months now and the team has been able to achieve a lot with their community-driven building approach.

When you build a remarkable product and apply the Storytelling approach, people will connect with what you are offering faster and you will grow faster with time.

People Want Benefits, Not Features

Talking of benefits, another Blockchain powered movement that has also caught my attention is Human Love

The team led by Samuel Joseph who was featured on Forbes last year is doing a great Job of creating a Blockchain powered Charity Project.

He has been able to garner worldwide support and also bring attention to the diverse applications of the Blockchain.

The Need For Constant Innovation

Getting product and Marketing right does not automatically make you win on the Long term.

There is a need for constant Innovation. I talked about Infrastructure Inversion in my last post.

There is still a UI/UX problem that needs to be solved when Blockchain applications are Involved especially wallets.

If we want to build what will get mass adoption from people, we need to make it as easy and also beneficial to use as possible.

There are times where you might even build a remarkable product and people will not respond or Interact with it as you desired.

We celebrate the journey of centralized platforms like Amazon today, but as you all know, the culture of Amazon is built as providing long term value at the expense of profits.

This tactics has paid off and turned Amazon into a Giant.

So no matter what you are building on the Blockchain, be hellbent on providing value first and keep Innovating.

Don’t be the one who is known only for excessive hype.

Create value and people will reward you with time and attention.

Ads end as soon as you stop paying for them.

Tribes remain.
