Are You Gullible or Just Brainwashed?
Why defend someone you barely even know?
Just so you know, this article is neither about Amber Heard nor Johnny Depp, but it is about celebrities in general.
I often see people mindlessly defend their idols against any misconduct that they’ve been accused of and this never fails to bother me. As much as I’m okay with the idea of idolizing a celebrity and looking up to them as role models, I am against the idea of being brainwashed and gullible by that idolization.
A celebrity is often not your friend or family member who you know from the inside out. The only things you know about them is what they choose to reveal to the public or whatever the media wants you to believe about them whether it’s true or not.
You knowing and owning a singer’s entire discography and attending all of their live concerts don’t mean that you really know them. You never see what they get up to behind closed doors. You don’t really know what goes on in their lives off camera. You don’t know what goes on in their minds.
So, what makes you so sure when defending a celebrity you barely even know? Do you ever take it upon yourself to do some research on whatever misconduct or crime they have been accused of or you simply mindlessly defend them by taking their word as factual without searching for any other evidence to support or dispute those accusations? If you are guilty of the latter, you are guilty of ignorance.
Don’t be gullible and don’t let your idolization cloud your judgement. Rather do your research and let facts speak for themselves without mindlessly taking sides. Be an independent thinker.
