I regret to announce the end of Alternative Perspectives as a publication.
I want to begin by thanking the writers and readers that have helped to make this a welcoming space — one full of warmth, imagination, humour, and a huge variety of perspectives to learn from. Overall, running this publication has been an enjoyable experience, and for that I am grateful.
I also want to apologise. Over the last few months, submissions have been piling up for a variety of reasons. But ultimately this backlog has resulted in some writers waiting far too long to be published, with some not getting responses at all. This falls short of the standards I set myself when I started this journey, so I’m sorry.
From the outset, Alternative Perspectives had potential, and I was sure the seeds of something special were starting to shoot. There have been a number of obstacles that have prevented what grew from following that early trajectory, but I have to face the fact that I have now become one of them. Rather than allowing the publication to limp on like Frankenstein’s grotesque imagining of my original ambition, I’ve made the decision to call it a day.
