Indoctrination is a long and winding road travelled at breakneck speed, usually when your brain is at its most pliable — when you are a child. I, like countless millions of other unfortunates, initially fell for the smarm, deceit and well-practiced skill of organised religion in making the utterly implausible, plausible. In short, I believed them when they told me their fairy stories.
