Jeremiah 17:7–8 (NLT)
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.

It is interesting that most often the time when God blesses us, it is when we are not even pining for the blessing. It is most often the time when the blessings were in the back of our minds that God blesses us beyond our wildest imagination.

We became so contented with whatever we have that our focus in no longer on the blessing but the Blesser, God himself. We have found our security in God because we know that even if He doesn’t bless us, we are already blessed.

Once, our eyes fixated on the blessings, but as we grew in maturity and understanding, our gaze directed to God. His person and His presence is our ultimate blessing. In fact, when He has blessed us, we didn’t even notice till He reminded us of His goodness and greatness.

I’m pretty sure that there were many moments like this, moments where we looked back, and we didn’t even realise how far God had brought us. Incredible isn’t it?

The verse cannot expound it better — “Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.” When we put our utmost trust and confidence in God, when we have our eyes set on God, everything else fades away. Notice how a magnifying glass focuses and the surrounding of the focus becomes blurred. Problems and troubles (heat and drought) are stripped of their magnitude as God reveals His magnitude.

No wonder we are urged by Matthew to seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and God will give you everything you need (Matthew 6:33, NLT).

The earlier verse goes on to reveal that the leaves of these trees stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God (Psalm 92:13, NKJV). When you are rooted deep in God, when you are plugged-in to the Source, His supplies flow and His power is released to you and through you.

The Lord our Blesser, our confident.
We the blessed, simply contented.
And the blessings, complimentary.

If your life is a magnifying glass, what is your focus today?
If you are a tree who can choose to plant itself, where do you want to be rooted?
