Now that we’re done with found footage, let’s move on to some bigger and better things.

You know, things like Nicole Kidman, demonic possessions, and…

OK, so I actually threw one more found footage movie into the mix, but I promise there’s only one.

#13 The House Of The Devil (October 17th — Shudder)

For some reason when The House Of The Devil started I thought to myself, “This girl is totally going to end up covered in blood by the time this is over.”

Spoiler alert: I was right.

Director Ti West does a great job making this movie look and feel like it was made in the 80's and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a crush on Jocelin Donahue after watching this.

I’d have no problem helping her raise her little demon baby.

#14 The Others (October 17th — Amazon Prime)

Fun fact: Tom Cruise was an executive producer on this movie!

Ah, 2001 feels so long ago…

I was already a pretty big fan of The Others for it’s spooky atmosphere and Nicole Kidman’s slightly unhinged performance.

But the thing that took this movie to the next level was the twist ending that made me second guess everything I had just watched.

#15 The Invasion (October 18th — Amazon Prime)

Sorry, Nicole. They can’t all be winners.

The Invasion pretty much makes the argument that humankind might actually be better off if aliens were the ones calling the shots, and I’ll admit that’s a pretty cool concept.

But overall it doesn’t really pay off in any sort of way and it ends up just being a pretty forgettable movie.

#16 The Vatican Tapes (October 19th — Amazon Prime)

To be honest I mostly watched this movie because Michael Pena was in it, and he definitely didn’t disappoint.

But the real star here was Olivia Taylor Dudley who was pretty damn creepy as the possessed Angela.

The Vatican Tapes didn’t really show me anything I hadn’t seen before, but it has some solid acting and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of exorcism movies.

#17 The Phoenix Tapes ’97 (October 19th — Amazon)

This movie tries so hard to seem authentic that the first half of it is literally just grainy footage of some bros on vacation.

Just like Willow Creek, another movie I watched on this challenge, The Phoenix Tapes ’97 turned out to be just another Blair Witch Project clone with a pretty unsatisfying ending.

Thank goodness this thing was less than 90 minutes long.
