Recruiting’s never over, even in the weeks and months that follow the second signing day. Latrell Fordham, once a Ball State commit in the 2020 recruiting cycle, picked Eastern Michigan as his new school of choice on Thursday.

Fordham was a receiver, corner, and return man in high school (Davidson, Mich. / Davidson) that committed to Ball State over Central Michigan and Morgan State, but decided to prolong his college football career last April. The reason? Ball State’s then-offensive coordinator, Joey Lynch, left the team to take the O.C. job at Colorado State (update: he’s now the QB coach and pass game coordinator at Vanderbilt). Fordham told MLive that Lynch was the “main reason, honestly” for the 6'4, 180-pound receiver to commit to the team in the first place. With that news against him, Fordham opted to focus on his grades at a prep school in Connecticut and received class of 2021 offers from Akron, Cincinnati, Indiana, and, of course, EMU.

There’s so much still to learn about Fordham since he’s over a year removed from the sport (which isn’t such a bad thing in 2020), but I wouldn’t be surprised if his versatility and speed helps him see the field as an underclassman.
