Offers (as of 3/3/21): Northern Illinois

Immediately after receiving an offer from Thomas Hammock and the Northern Illinois coaching staff, class of 2022 safety Rashon Myles (Brownsburg, Ind. / Brownsburg HS) made his commitment to the pack.

Unless I’m reading the situation wrong, it looks like NIU was Myles first and only offer, which came two days ago. Myles was on the radars of Army, Cincinnati, Miami-OH, and Purdue, but it was NIU that pulled the trigger first.

Myles is a safety for his Indiana HS team that really gets things done with his hammering hits and his particularly keen eye as a kick returner. Looking at the [highlight] tape, Myles mixes up as a free safety/slot safety who seems to get the most joy out of making impact with the ball carrier or intended receiving target. Not to say Myles is out there trying to break necks or snatch some chains, but he can suffocate open gaps and meet the opposing player with a sound, aggressive tackle.

I really like what I see from Myles as a kick returner. Yes, he has the track speed, but he’s shown great awareness and field vision in his decision-making in his returns, and he’s picked up some extra yards after contact as well.
