Penny Released the New Title

Always Bring A Book

Louise Penny has released the title of book number 16 in the Gamache series. It’s planned to be released on September first. It has taken her a year to research and write the book. I must say that her productivity is impressive.

The title is a quote from William Shakespeare’s play The Tempest (act 1, scene 2). It’s Ariel, a freed air spirit, that says the line to Prospero, his new master, a wizard who has conjured a storm. Prospero wants Ariel to ruin the ship they, and many others, are on to get revenge.

Not a soul

But felt a fever of the mad and played

Some tricks of desperation.

All but mariners

Plunged in the foaming brine and quit the vessel,

Then all afire with me.

The king’s son, Ferdinand,

With hair up-staring-then, like reeds, not hair-

Was the first man that leaped, cried,

“Hell is empty

And all the devils are here.”

The last two lines are just wonderful and the last one is a perfect title for a crime novel. I can’t wait to read it and find out who these devils are and what they are up to.
