ALZTOGETHER pivots to online museum tours, discussions

--

ALZTOGETHER, the social engagement program of the Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter, has brought together hundreds of people living with dementia and their caregivers since its first program in 2017.

Our spring 2020 slate of programs were ready to begin, but the COVID-19 pandemic had other ideas. The outbreak and subsequent quarantine has changed the landscape for all of our programs, including ALZTOGETHER. Museums and cultural attractions have closed, and social distancing guidelines advise against groups like ours from gathering.

As our programs team has shifted to telephone-based support groups and online education delivery, we have been working on how to change the social engagement experience. During the month of May, the Alzheimer’s Association will connect those living with dementia and their caregivers through a series of special online group experiences.

These virtual programs will utilize secure video conferencing software compatible with smartphones, tablets, PCs and Macs. Register in advance to receive the link to participate by calling 315.472.4201 x227.
