Enriched Couples Joins Civic Alliance to Champion Democracy
Enriched Couples aims to increase civic engagement by providing our employees and customers with resources to take action.
Civic engagement
Today (January 19, 2021), Enriched Couples is proud to join Civic Alliance, a nonpartisan coalition of more than 1,000 businesses working together to encourage every American to participate in shaping our country’s future.
Civic Alliance strengthens our democracy by encouraging civic participation, supporting safe, accessible, and trusted elections, and building an engaged civic culture through tools, resources, events, and partnerships. Founded by the CAA Foundation and Democracy Works, Civic Alliance cultivates a community of companies united by a shared belief that an active democracy is good for business, and an engaged business community is good for democracy.
Decisions influencing social justice show up in many forms within Enriched Couples, we are steadfast supporters of civil rights activism. Civic engagement — including voting, protest, and accountability of elected officials that serve the public — is a win-win that aligns with our company’s guiding values.
“Even early-stage companies like ours have an opportunity to become civic leaders… and shape the future of the communities where we live, where we work, and where we operate.”
— Annette Miller, CEO of Enriched Couples
As we have previously noted, systemic financial distress that’s shaping the lives of an entire generation (at least 9 in 10 millennial couples are stressed about money) cannot be wholly solved with technology solutions in the private sector. Rather, interdisciplinary cooperation and collaboration crossing private and public sectors is necessary and urgent. As we prevent divorce and emotional distress in tens of millions of young couples with our platform, our growing team at Enriched Couples aims for civic engagement to augment our sociocultural impact.
Commitment
As part of our participation in Civic Alliance, we will:
- Support employee participation in civil dissent to speak out against systemic racism and economic inequality in our local community and across the nation
- Develop resources for customers to engage their elected officials about economic and mental health legislation affecting equitable family policies
Enriched Couples has recently voiced support for legislation to protect adoption rights for same-sex couples. Future campaigns may focus on developing resources for customers to engage in the national debate with elected officials about student loan relief. Employee campaign themes include support of civil dissent or protest, voting, and national dialogue about federal financial literacy program reform (America spends more annually on financial education than the entire Veterans Affairs budget — $170M vs $130M roughly).
As Americans interact with businesses, brands, and employers every day, even early-stage companies like ours have an opportunity to become civic leaders. We know that our democracy works best when everyone participates. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Civic Alliance to help our employees and customers engage in elections and shape the future of the communities where we live, where we work, and where we operate.
