Dealing loads and loads of drugs and toting guns isn’t a well Wayne keeps going down to for inspiration as often as he does, say, eating pussy or proclaiming his excellence, but as Da Drought-leftover Who Wanna proves it wouldn’t have been the worst thing if he had done so throughout his career.

On this track, Wayne puts his best mafioso don hat on and, over a sprawling Mannie Fresh synthesizer, details every which way he knows how to both cook and sell cocaine and crack. Throughout it all, he keeps switchings flows and breaking into and out of multi’s and it’s pretty apparent that while he’s not the first to rap about guns and drugs, he’s among the nicest to ever do it. This passage from the first verse sticks out notably.

These eyes are real see straight through ya liquid ass
You see me straight through the glass house picnic wagon
You could see it by my bitch face she thick with ass
Get slick slick I click click blast on ya bitch ass
Squad up shit click or smash on ya bitch ass
Smash on ya bitch ass
Now pick the grass up out ya ass and the caps out ya cap Aye!

In the second verse, Wayne showcases his underrated storytelling ability to be concise when he raps that, “I wasn’t born with no silver spoon. But I can heat it in a spoon and pitch it in a balloon.” It both plays up the theme that you shouldn’t try Wayne when he was born into the lifestyle and has had to hustle every step of the way all the while also pulling the listener in, reminding him that the living conditions in which plenty of our rap superstars were raised are so deplorable that they learn at a young age that the world doesn’t care for them and maybe they should learn to sell free base. To say all this in one single line, well, that’s some pretty elite shit. And of course, just when you think to yourself, “Oh gee this is awful poor Wayne,” then the line stops and he continues rapping about how “the semi go boom.”

Bang ’em in the head, whoa!
