Short videos or web stories — the battle for Google search results

More and more people are noticing that Google is showing more short videos than web stories in Google’s mobile search.

Short videos add sources of short video content from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook to search results.

Web stories are showing up in search results for competitive keyword phrases.

But there is every reason to believe that in the long term, short videos will replace them. And here are the first calls:

“It looks like it will overtake the Visual Stories feature in the SERPs at some point”, — concluded Glenn Gabe.

Creating web stories is quite a hassle, and maybe it’s time to put your efforts in a new direction. Before long, we’ll find out if that’s the case.
