The Book of 5 Rings
Ancient Life and Business Wisdom
Life has many challenges for every human.
- What is the right response to life challenges?
- Which job should I learn?
- What should I do when someone attacks me verbally or physically?
These are just a few questions almost everyone I have met asks themselves once in a while.
Such questions work our society's minds for generations, and many philosophical books were written to give answers.
One of those books is from Miyamoto Musashi — a Japanese swordsman and probably the best sword fighter of his generation.
Miyamoto Musashi lived from 1584 to 1645 in Japan and was a swordsman, writer, philosopher, and strategist. He founded the Martial Art Niten Ichi-Ryu, which is still alive and being taught today.
He gained a lot of insights during his life, especially in the many life and death situations he faced as a swordsman and Samurai. At the end of his life, he compiled his philosophy into two books.
- The Book of Five Rings — written in 1643
- Dokkodo — written in 1645
