I will go through the steps of showing you how easy it is to use and setup LoTW. This step will create a .tq5 file which gets sent to LoTW

  1. Download the TQSL software package from http://www.arrl.org/tqsl-download and install it to your hard drive. Once installed you will have this icon on your desktop

2. Opening the TQSL program one will be presented with the following screen,

On the top row select Callsign Certificate and then select “Request New Callsign Certificate”

Once you have done that the following screen will appear….

You need to put in your callsign and your DXCC entity by using the drop down menu. You then need to put in the date (YYYYMMDD) you got your license, also uses a drop down menu. This is important as it will only accept contacts from that date onwards. Do not put in an end date.

Once next is pressed the following screen appears

On this screen you need to say what type of callsign you are requesting. Once you have chosen your option you are presented with the following screen once next is selected

Here you need to put in your Name, Address, City etc and then press next when completed

This is an important step because it is to this email address that your “certificate” gets sent to — Click next to continue and then this screen appears

This screen is optional. If you feel the need to Password protect your certificate then you do it here. It is not really necessary to do so. If you forget your “password” you will have to get a new certificate. Even the staff at LoTW will not be able to help you. Press Next

This is the step where your certificate request is sent to LoTW if you select Yes. If No is selected then the certificate is saved to your hard drive for later submission.

The final step is to send a copy of your I.D. and licence to LoTW. If you are a DX station, outside America, you can email the required documents to LoTW. Use the LoTW-Help@arrl.org email address.
