Hope Mills is home to the youth club Lions United FC. I haven’t done a lion themed design in this series so I figured this would be a good time to take a swing at one. I chose to keep the club’s blue and white scheme, but changed the shading because the original blue is too bright for my liking.

For inspiration I pulled from Ipswich Town FC, creating similar boxes for each of the elements. The lion head I swapped with two lions standing up facing each other and of course removed the needless soccer ball. Finally I added a water wheel, the town’s early source of power and industry, to the cradle to fill the negative space.

Once again baseball is the predominate field of choice in this area. With eight fields in such close proximity to each other, surely they could sacrifice the two fields next to the skate park for a lovely soccer specific stadium?

I thought the waves from the water wheel would make a nice pattern on the away kit. Other than the waves the kit is an off the rack Adidas shirt, so nothing too crazy in the jersey department for this kit.

Special thanks to Russell Varner for his help editing.

About me
First and foremost I am an amateur with no formal training. My hope is that this series will spark other creatives to make their own versions. Learn more about the series here. I was born and raised in Middlesex, North Carolina and have spent most of my adult life living in Raleigh. I am a fan of the beautiful game who wants to see it grow at the grassroots level.
