Mid-Atlantic North — Week 3

Game 1 — Raleigh International FC vs Goldsboro Strike Eagles FC

Raleigh International FC

Raleigh had a big rebound scoring six goals against Sosa FC last week. Now that we have seen them put on the show, can they hold their own against their fellow middle table team? The video of this game is not available at this time, so we do not have specifics on their game versus Sosa.
Record: 1–0–1
Next Week: vs FC Cardinals — 10/10

Goldsboro Strike Eagles FC

Not a very inspiring week the from Strike Eagles. Both of the goals in their 4–2 loss were rebounds off of free kicks where the keeper fumbled the ball. Goldsboro wants to play an organized game with possession and Moros caught them with speed and deep balls. They’ll have to address this gap to remain contenders.
Record: 1–0–1
Next Week: vs San Lee FC — 10/11

Zac's Prediction: Draw 2–2
Zack's Prediction: Draw 2–2

Game 2 — FC Cardinals vs Sosa FC

FC Cardinals

Another rough home game out of their three game home stand to start the season. FCC will likely be looking back at these two games at the end of the season as what separates them from the top half of the table. This week they finish their home stretch with bottom of the table Sosa FC. Anything but a win is a bad result for the Cardinals and they have to come out with a purpose early.
Record: 0–0–2

Sosa FC

I’m no expert, but starting the season with a -9 goal differential is not great. The Wendell side is limping out of the gate but they have an opportunity to travel to Winston-Salem and pick up their first points against an also struggling FC Cardinals. A success for Sosa to me is scoring. I’m not confident in their ability to win this game, but if they walk away this week without scoring a single goal they will have Mount Everest to climb if they want to even sniff the top half of the table.
Record: 0–0–2
Next Week: vs Moros FC — 10/9

Zac’s Prediction: FCC 2–1
Zack’s Prediction:
FCC 2–1

Game 3 — San Lee FC vs Moros FC

On Tuesday Game 3 was moved to the 4pm slot at Grace Christian School in Sanford, still on Saturday the 3rd. The original slot was 7:30pm at Wake Competition Center and a home game for Moros FC. The following previews reflect that last minute change.

San Lee FC

A good win on the road last week against FCC has put San Lee on top of the table going into week three. With that comes the target on your back. SLFC will have their toughest match of the season this week against a hot Moros. With San Lee now hosting this match I will be looking to see if their defense, specifically the keeper, can recreate that week one magic and hold off the Moros onslaught. A home field advantage might be just what they need to make it happen.
Record: 2–0–0
Next Week: @ Goldsboro Strike Eagles FC

Moros FC

Moros are lighting the division up on the field! Nine goals in two games is nothing to shrug at. Having seen this team in action it makes sense why. They play fast, hard, and aggressive. Their style is not pretty, featuring a lot of long balls to get strikers in behind defenders, but it has been effective so far. Playing San Lee on the road will be one of their toughest challenges of the year and with a last minute schedule change it is coming earlier than expected.
Record: 2–0–0
Next Week: vs Sosa FC — 10/9

Zac’s Prediction: MFC 3–2
Zack’s Prediction:
MFC 3–2

Side Note: I was not happy with the handling of the crowd at last week’s match at Wake Competition Center. On behalf of TriSocPod, I would urge anyone planning to attend games there to be prepared. Take your own chair, have a mask, and plan to sit somewhere along the fence. You will have to walk through the crowd to reach the single occupant restrooms.

On Location — October

We will be on location for several games in October. These dates are subject to change based on how comfortable and safe we feel at a venue. That being said, let us know if you’ll be at a game and definitely flag us down if you see us!
