Mid-Atlantic North — Week 7

Quick Note: The UPSL standings are treating all matches against FC Cardinals and Sosa FC as forfeits for the remaining of the season. The remaining four teams will each receive two wins and six points on the season for these games. Other than inflating stats this should not effect the standings in a meaningful way.

Game 1 — Goldsboro Strike Eagles FC v Moros FC

Goldsboro Strike Eagles FC

The Strike Eagles had last week off after Sosa withdrew from the competition. Hopefully they took that time to get an extra practice in as they're up against the toughest opponent this week with Moros FC. The name of the game against Moros is contain, contain, contain. They're going to score, the Strike Eagles just need to slow them down and put away their chances. This might be the only match being played this week, so we're hoping for a good one.
Record: 3–0–3
Next Match: vs Raleigh International FC — 11/7

Moros FC

Moros also had a week off because of FC Cardinals withdrawing and will be rested. The last time these two sides met Moros did a good job containing the Strike Eagles attack, allowing only two goals from deflections after the goal keeper fumbled the ball. It will be interesting if having a week off will throw off the team's form.
Record: 6–0–0
Next Match: vs San Lee FC — 11/7

Zac’s Prediction: 3–2 MFC
Zack’s Prediction: 3–3 MFC

San Lee FC

Last week San Lee traveled to Cary to take on Raleigh Inter FC in what looked like one of the most competitive matches of the season resulting in a 4–4 draw. The match hasn’t been posted anywhere so we haven’t been able to catch the second half, but San Lee was up 2–1 going into the half. The team looked lost on transition at times, but they were really good down the left wing in the first half once on the attack. It was enough to keep the team level on points with Raleigh, but this late in the season that lack of communication is worrying.
Record: 3–1–2
Next Match: @ Moros FC — 11/7

Raleigh International FC

Raleigh played their last home match of the season this past week and weren’t able to create the separation they needed from San Lee FC. It is good, however, that they were able to stay on pace with a Sanford side that came to play and scored four goals. Raleigh showed good defending in the first half even though it eventually collapsed. With their remaining games on the road I worry that their defense won’t be enough to make a playoff run.
Record: 3–1–2
Next Match: @ Goldsboro Strike Eagles FC

on location

With no games happening in the Triangle that means we will not be on location this week. Games are getting sparse with teams exiting the division. We will do our best to still cover games going forward, but we also had a negative experience last week with mask wearing and may need to adjust how we cover games in-person.
