Real Washington
I came to the idea of using the “Real” trope for Washington as it draws directly to the town’s naming issue with Washington, D.C. Growing up, I knew Washington as “Little Washington” or “Original Washington,” a clarification that was required every time the town was brought up.
The branding for Real Washington is text first using a contemporary serif font. I increased the size of the Real to draw attention to the joke giving it a steel color. A brass colored Washington stretches the length of the logo. Washington was once known at the “Forks of the Tar” and the four light blue stars represent those routes out of the town.
The first location Real Washington could play at is Chocowinty Recreation Complex. This field is located across the river — so not the best location — but it’s connection to a local school could offer the needed infrastructure like parking. The other location, Susiegray McConnell Sports Complex, is more built out and is closer to downtown, with multiple fields one would likely have to sacrifice to fit in stands.
I went with a steel pinstripe sublimated pattern on a white kit as base design. The stripes and details feature the club’s three colors as detail. A pair of steel socks round out the mock-up.
