Packin’ our bags for summer (Drupal) camp adventures

As you may have noticed, amazee.io supports events all the time all around the world. I’m proud of our commitment to sponsoring, speaking at and organizing Drupal events. There are two coming up soon that I want you to know about.

DrupalCamp Colorado

Next week I’m attending my hometown event, DrupalCamp Colorado. DCCO is one of the longest running Drupal events, and I’ve been helping organize it for several years. Each year it brings together over a hundred attendees for sessions ranging from front and backend development, to theming, user experience, project management and DevOps.

The #DCCO2017 t-shirt design sure looks purty.

This free event, held July 28–30 in downtown Denver’s Auraria Campus, features keynotes from the prolific Drupal contributor Adam Bergstein and the always-entertaining Drupal evangelist Jeffrey “jam” McGuire. They’ll address the interpersonal aspects of developing and maintaining a productive and healthy open source community.

The event kicks off on Friday with a Nonprofit, Education and Government Summit, which brings together end-user organizations and agencies for peers-to-peer conversations about the unique opportunities and challenges of using Drupal and related technologies in these verticals. Saturday is packed with over 30 sessions and open-ended discussions, along with the keynotes and an evening party. On Sunday, attendees will get back to contributing to the project in mentored code sprints where anyone from Drupal experts to people brand new to Drupal work together and contribute to the project.

GovCon

On Monday (the very next day) I’ll be on my way to Maryland for Drupal GovCon, from July 31 to August 2.

GovCon 2017!

GovCon is another long-running Drupal event that just keeps growing. Thankfully, organizers have capped attendance this year so they can continue to hold the event in a wonderful (and very secure) venue — the National Institutes for Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.

Despite its size, GovCon continues to offer free admittance for all attendees. Keynotes, sessions, Birds of a Feather conversations, and trainings are spread out over the three day program.

What’s that? You’re going too?

I’m looking forward to meeting with agencies to learn about new projects and gaps in available hosting options to see how amazee.io can help.

If you’re attending DrupalCamp Colorado or GovCon, let’s talk! Send me an email or say hello on Twitter and let’s make the most of this Drupal-filled week.
