If you think this film is about the story of Michael Jordan, you are completely wrong. In this product, directed by Ben Affleck, the actor who plays MJ is not even seen in the face. What you see are only archive images taken throughout his career as a basketball player and otherwise; the true protagonists of the story are those who helped build the Jordan brand as we know it today. And no, Michael Jordan is not a fashion designer as many think.
The film is set in 1984, the year in which Nike is suffering a big drop in sales, and the Basketball section has the last chance before closing its doors. The film opens with numerous references to famous commercials released in that year, such as 1984 by Apple, Coca-Cola, and the Nike Revolution among others. But this is also the year Michael Jordan will make his NBA debut. Sonny Vaccaro, a great basketball fan, and sometimes talent scout, works in the basketball department of Nike and (played by Matt Damon) sees in the North Carolina basketball player something that only Deloris Jordan (played by Viola Davis) has seen until now. or what will be, according to many, the greatest sportsman of all time.
