Cruella De Mon is an iconic character, born from the pen of Dodie Smith in 1956, in the book: 101 Dalmatians, and translated to the cinema in the animated Disney film: One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961). Then there was the live-action remake 101 Dalmatians (1996), the first of the remakes of classics and long before this practice became a serial, and then the sequel 102 Dalmatians (2000). Now is the time to go back to investigate the past and understand how the Cruella we thought we knew was born. Yes, we believed, because this trend takes up the original to reinvent it according to a modern taste.

In a 1970s punk rock London setting, Emma Stone, best known for The Favourite (2019), La La Land (2017), Battle of the Sexes (2017), Irrational Man (2015), Birdman (2015), and Magic in the Moonlight (2014), is called to play the young Cruella who was once a sweet little girl named Estella whose mother advised her not to let out her bad temperament named Cruella.

The stratagem of giving two different names to the two souls of the protagonist, who confront each other throughout the story, overcomes the consistency problems that have instead occurred in movies such as Maleficent (2014).
