AMD Ryzen 4000 series has undoubtedly become the first choice of many manufacturers and users due to the high performance and low price brought by the extremely high cost performance. The performance of the Ryzen 4000 series is obvious to all, and the manufacturers have done their best to make their products even better.

For example, recently in thin and light notebooks, there has been a wave of competition for extreme performance. Under the same configuration, who can run stably at higher power indicates who has better product performance.

From the perspective of consumers, higher performance is undoubtedly a symbol of higher cost performance, but as a thin and light notebook, is such performance surplus? How to solve various problems such as high heat generation and poor battery life caused by high performance? These angles are rarely considered.

Although higher performance is always a good thing, the cost of performance improvement in thin and light notebooks is not small . Like higher temperature, greater noise, and thicker fuselage, these issues cannot be ignored. I chose a thin and light notebook, but I have to endure the high temperature of the fuselage, the roar of the fan, and increase the load for daily travel. If there is a real need for performance, instead of dilemma, why not buy a standard notebook? better.

Therefore, although extreme performance will be a big gimmick, in most application scenarios, thin and light notebooks are not suitable for playing large games or engaging in professional work such as video rendering.

After all, most ordinary people usually only use light applications such as surfing the Internet, working, and watching videos. Even if the performance is not squeezed to the limit, the thin and light notebooks are enough for them to use them smoothly at ordinary times, and even the overall experience will be better .

The protagonist Acer’s legendary thin and light notebook has adopted this design idea. It does not set up intense performance scheduling, but uses a thin body, lower heat, and less noise at the right power. Longer battery life ensures that the comprehensive experience of this thin and light notebook is good enough.

In terms of configuration, the Acer Legend in this evaluation is equipped with Ryzen 7 4700U processor, with onboard 16GB 4266MHz LPDDR4X dual-channel memory and 1TB NVMe solid state drive . As always in performance scheduling, the power consumption of the whole machine is strictly limited. Acer only provides Acer mode similar to the balanced mode for users to choose.

In the Acer legend, the TDP of the Ryzen 7 4700U is strictly limited to 18W. Although there is no open performance mode, the performance for daily use is sufficient.

Under the premise that the Acer mode can be used, heat and power consumption can be controlled better, so that this notebook can easily achieve up to 12 hours of amazing battery life in mobile office scenarios without a large battery .

In addition, the scalability of Acer Legend is not low. Under the unique edge design, it has a full-featured Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio port, two USB ports and an HDMI port, which can maximize the fuselage without affecting the back-end ports. The degree of lightness. At the same time, it comes with a Wi-Fi 6 network card, which also saves a lot of trouble in later disassembly and replacement.

Appearance: The all-metal shell is designed with a closed edge, and the interface is not reduced and thinner

Acer’s legendary A side is very simple, matte metal surface, only a large Acer LOGO in the middle, showing the gloss of mirror reflection.

Acer’s legendary screen is a standard 16:9 format with 1920×1080 resolution. The left, right, and upper three sides are designed with narrow bezels, and the Acer LOGO is placed on the lower bezel. The upper frame has a front camera, camera indicator light and two microphone openings.

There is no small keyboard in the keyboard area, except for the arrow keys and the two page turning function keys, which are all designed in full size and support white backlight. The keyboard has a short keystroke and a general feel.

In addition, there is a fingerprint recognition module on the lower right side of the keyboard area. The sticker in the lower right corner introduces some of the features of Acer’s legend. You can see that its Type-C port supports fast charging, wireless network supports Wi-Fi 6, and HDMI interface. The notebook can be expanded up to 180° to meet the needs of various angles.Viewed from the side, Acer Legend has adopted a closed edge design to reduce part of the weight and thickness while ensuring that the rear interface part will not be affected, so the scalability is also very good.

In terms of interfaces, it has a full-featured Type-C port, a USB 3.2 port, a USB 2.0 port, a headphone jack and an HDMI port. The full-featured Type-C port can provide 65W PD fast charge, 10Gbps transmission speed, and support video signal transmission, which is very useful.

On the bottom, many Acer notebooks are equipped with a power-off switch. When the computer crashes and needs to be physically powered off and shut down, use the card pin to insert it into the small hole in the upper right corner.

Open the bottom cover to take a look at the internal structure of the Acer legend. Equipped with Ryzen 7 4700U, it uses a single heat pipe and single fan for heat dissipation. Due to conservative performance scheduling and an 18W power wall, this heat dissipation module is sufficient to meet the needs of heat dissipation.

The battery size is 48Wh, which is an entry-level level among thin and light notebooks. However, due to Acer’s legendary conservative performance scheduling, the battery life is amazing and can easily reach more than 10 hours.

Intel AX200NGW wireless network card supports Wi-Fi 6 network and can achieve a connection speed of 2.5Gbps at 5GHz 160MHz.

The solid state is 1TB PM 991, M.2 interface, supporting NVMe protocol. The upper left corner of the picture is the power-off button previously seen on the bottom.

Routine test: 18W Ryzen is still good at playing games

The Ryzen 7 4700U equipped with Acer Legend has 8 cores and 8 threads, and the maximum acceleration frequency can reach 4.1GHz. The official default TDP is 15W, but it has been improved in Acer Legend, and it can work stably at up to 18W in daily use. Next, let’s see how the Ryzen 7 4700U performs.
