Google held a new product launch conference and released the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G versions. As described in previous revelations on the Internet, these two smartphones are both 5G mobile phones based on Snapdragon 765G, and the overall appearance style can also see a lot of shadows of Pixel 4 and Pixel 4a. The color scheme is the same as the information that the retailer accidentally released before. The 4a 5G is only available in black, while the Pixel 5 will have an extra gray-green to choose from. The fingerprint recognition modules are all behind the plastic body, but the Pixel 5 is more IP68 dustproof and waterproof. In terms of price, Pixel 5 and 4a 5G are priced at US$699 and US$499, respectively, to compete with the same-grade models of smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, and Samsung.

Specifically, for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G smartphones, the specific specifications are basically the same as the previous exposure specifications. On the one hand, the Pixel 5 uses a 6.0-inch perforated full screen on the front. The name of the perforated screen looks like a small hole “punched” in the corner of the screen, just like a mechanical punching machine makes on a piece of paper. The camera module is located here, so the edge of the screen will not be touched by the notch. Compared with the bangs of Apple mobile phones, as well as various pop-up cameras, and even derivative slider phones, it is undoubtedly a good solution for full-screen phones. In the smartphone market in 2020, hole-digging screens have become an important trend, that is, many new phones released by smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo have adopted this design scheme. In this regard, the two models that Google just released are also in line with this trend, so as to meet the needs of smartphone users in appearance.

On the basis of the digging screen, the Google Pixel 5 smartphone has a screen ratio of 19.5:9, a resolution of 1080x2340p, HDR support, and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. In this regard, in the author’s opinion, the 90Hz refresh rate screen also fits the trend of high refresh rate screens. Refresh rate is a big parameter in the display, but it is not as well-known as the resolution. In fact, the screen quickly and continuously displays a series of static images (frames/fps), refreshed every time the display is updated, generally mobile phone screens The refresh rate is 60Hz, and the faster the frame rate, the smoother the animation will be. On this basis, the high refresh rate screen brings a wide range of benefits. In daily use, because our mobile phone processors have already met the performance requirements of the high refresh rate of the screen, with the high refresh rate screen, every time the system slides , Each window animation is more smooth. On the processor, the Google Pixel 5 smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor.

According to public information on the Internet, the Snapdragon 765 integrates the Snapdragon X52 modem and radio frequency system, with a peak download rate of up to 3.7 Gbps and an upload rate of 1.6 Gbps, achieving network coverage for global users and full-day battery life. Snapdragon 765 is designed to support 5G multi-mode connections on a global scale. It can support all key regions and major frequency bands, including 5G millimeter wave and frequency bands below 6 GHz, 5G SA and NSA networking modes, TDD and FDD, and Dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS), global 5G roaming, and support for multiple SIM cards. Based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor, the Google Pixel 5 smartphone provides a Snapdragon 765G processor, 8+128G storage, a built-in 4000mAh battery, supports 18W wired fast charging and wireless charging, and is priced at US$699. In this regard, in the eyes of industry insiders, although it is Google’s annual flagship new machine, it is not “flagship” in terms of specifications. Both the Snapdragon 765G and the rear fingerprint recognition are not so high-end, at least they cannot be compared with the flagship phones of Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Samsung and other manufacturers.

Finally, Pxiel 4A 5G is also equipped with the Snapdragon 765G processor. Compared with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G of the Pixel 4A, it has a 6.2-inch perforated full screen, but it does not have a high refresh rate of 90Hz, and it also lacks wireless charging. Dustproof and waterproof and other functions. Among them, as far as the wireless charging function is concerned, it has become more popular in the smartphone market in recent years. Wireless charging technology is derived from wireless power transmission technology and can be divided into two methods low-power wireless charging and high-power wireless charging. Since the charger and the electric device use a magnetic field to transmit energy, there is no wire connection between the two, so both the charger and the electric device can achieve no conductive contacts exposed. In the smartphone market in 2020, new phones released by major smartphone manufacturers will increasingly support wireless charging and other functions. Because of the reduced configuration, Pxiel 4A 5G is priced at US$499. In this regard, in the author’s opinion, although the price is lower than that of the Google Pixel 5 smartphone, Pxiel 4A 5G obviously lacks cost-effectiveness compared with the same-grade models of smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo.
