Venturing into mentorship through ADPList as a designer this year has been an incredibly rewarding journey that has broadened my perspective on learning, connected me with great people and even led to some very rewarding collaborations.

This is why I was thrilled to host the first ADPList community meetup on the 2nd of May, 2024, at Café Oz in central Paris. Despite it being a rainy day in the city we had a great turnout, gathering a diverse group of professionals and learners originating from France, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Iran, China and more.

These were the key takeaways from our meetup:

🌎 There’s a demand for more international events in the Parisian tech industry. The majority of events held in Paris are hosted in French and assemble talented individuals with backgrounds in French education. It was great to connect with fellow expats who are immersed in the industry but also look to exchange thoughts on navigating the French market.

👨‍🏫 Professional mentorship is valuable at any stage of your career and, thanks to platforms like adplist.org, it’s more accessible now than ever before.

😨 Recession is a difficult time to jump-start your career but for some it’s also an opportunity for reflection. In fact, this period of uncertainty has prompted many members to seek new job opportunities or career changes.

To wrap things up, the ADPList meetup showed just how brilliant and diverse the tech community in Paris really is. We recognised the importance of international events and how valuable knowledge sharing can be in a community setting, especially when navigating through the unknown. I’m excited to keep building on this and see where it takes us. Stay tuned!
