On removing stress while achieving goals
Amberdata Achievements — August 31

Last week I talked about finding feature’s that create high value for clients & business. Inherently, this creates objectives — goals that will need to be achieved for the business to be successful.
Stress is created when there is a massive list to achieve a goal. Many times I’ve seen developers lose sight of the goal with too many items in one view. If that view is organized or filtered in an achievable short list, the brain can see a clear path ahead. Here is an example of how I am creating focus —
In our Jira board, each goal is represented by 1 epic, 5–12 stories and 1 release. Each story contains critical information without any un-agreed upon items. This organization has allowed us to keep a tight focus on what is important to ship.
I am guilty of overcomplicating requirements, future proofing code that would never be used, and more. The above is advice to help myself as much as others achieve goals and remove some stress from the team.
Ship features that are exactly what clients need; no need to over engineer until a client asks.
