Here is a quick look at the projects and winnings.

Last week, we held our first hackathon, enabling developers free access to the most powerful blockchain & market data. The goal was simple:

“Create a project that utilizes amberdata API, that can test its capabilities and create a blog post to surface what you built.”

There was a lot of freedom, which allowed developers to innovate. Here are the final results & projects submitted.

Hackathon projects:

  1. Best Use of API — Market Instrument Explorer
  2. Most Innovative — Uniswap Market Depth
  3. Best Blog Post — How to Build React Market Charts
  4. Best Overall — Blockviz

Honorable Mentions:

  1. EtherBlockBot — Ethereum Twitter Bot
  2. EthPyArbitrage — The new playground of statistical arbitrage

Let’s take a look at each project, and highlight the API features used.

Market Instrument Explorer (Best Use of API)

This project surfaces almost ALL of the Amberdata API market data endpoints! Using this tool, you can quickly see all the data available, compare & contrast current trends, as well as check real-time trading. See the code here → https://github.com/amberdata/market-explorer

Uniswap Market Depth (Most Innovative)

Ever tried to test the market & liquidity available for Uniswap? This project took a closer look & discovered a very unique trend! You can utilize the depth chart to make informed decisions on buy/sell coverage. See the code here → https://github.com/amberdata/unidepth

How to Build React Market Charts (Best Blog Post)

For new developers, market data can be difficult. This blog surfaces a quick step-by-step approach to utilizing market data and charting different series to understand trends. See post here → https://github.com/amberdata/unidepth

Blockviz (Best Overall)

Understanding blockchain data is hard, especially for non-technical people. This project excelled at providing a birds-eye view of blockchain & market data, in a new style of timeline oriented data. It also showcases interesting value transfers upon interaction. See here → https://medium.com/@tclarke_1297/i-can-watch-crypto-trends-without-being-a-financial-wizard-%EF%B8%8F-f28ef6f2c4dd

EtherBlockBot (Honorable Mention)

Ever wondered how to build a twitter bot using ethereum data? This project provides a well-documented guide (with working bot demo!) on how to build an ethereum twitter bot. See post here → https://github.com/amberdata/ether-block-bot

EthPyArbitrage (Honorable Mention)

The next statistics playground is here — crypto trading arbitrage. Using the Amberdata APIs, this project utilized a relatively minimal amount of code to produce an intelligent arbitrage bot. See code here → https://github.com/amberdata/ethereum-arbitrage

We certainly had a blast with our first hackathon! Please stay tuned for future hackathons. Until then, take a look at our APIs for your next blockchain or cryptocurrency market project →
