AMBOSS’s new office in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy) creates amazing opportunities for current and new employees!
The City of Sunshine
Cagliari, aka The City of Sunshine, is the new place to be. At least for AMBOSS and some other 100+ tech startups.
Located on the island of Sardinia, Cagliari is a vibrant seaside town that played a vital role in setting the grounds for the digital revolution during the ’90s:
- Tiscali, the first internet provider in Italy, was founded here and made the Internet accessible to the masses in Italy (1998)
- Nobel Prize in Physics winner Carlo Rubbia headed the opening and expansion of CRS4, a research center that originated from the CERN (1990)
- L’Unione Sarda, a prominent Sardinian newspaper, was Europe’s first newspaper to go online in 1994.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this small but bold ecosystem has been recently attracting an increasing number of companies, and therefore professionals, who have chosen Cagliari as their place of business.
Among them is AMBOSS, the Ed-Health-Tech company whose mission is to empower all doctors to provide the best possible care. AMBOSS was born in Germany over 10 years ago, now has over 400 team members and offices in Berlin, Cologne, NYC, and Cagliari.
With dozens of open tech positions, AMBOSS has ambitious growth plans and offers the possibility to employees to work remotely from all these locations!
With this spirit, and the desire to mingle with the local tech community in Cagliari, we hosted a networking event at our new office in July.
As a Senior AI Engineer at AMBOSS who has recently decided to relocate to Italy, this event meant a lot to me. Here are my impressions from that night!
Drinks & Links at AMBOSS
The terrace with a stunning view to the old harbor is open to welcome our guests, the food has arrived and the drinks are cold. After many months of forced online events, I am very excited to host the very first AMBOSS in-person event organized to kick off our new office on the beautiful island of Sardinia, Italy. Everything has been set up in a few days, following all the necessary Covid-safety measures, therefore, we are a bit worried that not a lot of people will show up.
In a few minutes though, our worries vanish and the first guests arrive. It’s thrilling to connect with some of the people working for local tech companies and other international companies that have chosen Cagliari as their tech hubs.
The guests arriving at the event are greeted by the AMBOSS team and they get offered an office tour. But the majority of the people, gather on the terrace, where, while drinking a glass of wine with a stunning view, they got to know the team.
After that, it’s the moment to get back inside and discovering how the department of Engineering & Product is works to achieve AMBOSS’s mission.
The audience is excited to learn what AMBOSS is planning to achieve. Everybody is keen to learn more around a drink. One of the questions I get asked the most is: “Why did AMBOSS choose Cagliari?”
So, why Cagliari?
For those of you who don’t know this magical place, Cagliari gained 9th place in the prestigious ranking by Il Sole 24 Ore for quality of life.
With over 300 days of sunshine per year, crystal clear waters, stunning landscapes, and entertainment options all around, Cagliari is the ideal destination for anyone looking to embrace the Italian lifestyle at its best.
On top of this, all new residents relocating from abroad can benefit from a special tax regime where only 10% of their income is taxed.
