Ethereum Stuck In Key Range: Why $1,480 Is The Key
Despite Ethereum’s impressive gains over the past week, indicators are showing worrisome signs.
Ethereum has had impressive growth this past week. The price of the coin has increased by more than 48% in the last week and has crossed the $1,600 mark many times. At one point, the price of Ethereum broke through the $1,620 resistance area. This is really impressive growth since the entire crypto market is in the cold winter days.
However, this did not last for long. The pressure from the bears increased as the coin moved closer to the $1,660 level, causing the ETH price to drop.
At the time of writing, the price of ETH is down more than 3% from yesterday and is at $1,533. This price is currently below the 76.4% Fibonacci retracement level of ETH’s upward move, from as low as $1,488 to as high as $1,662.
Despite the drop, the price of Ethereum remains above the $1,500 support level. Besides, there is a trend line forming with support near $1,500 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD.
In the event that ETH continues to rise, the main resistance it has to overcome will be at $1,550 with the 100 hourly SMA.
Additionally, a breakout zone is currently forming near the $1,620 price level. If it breaks through this level, the market could see a decent increase in ETH price, before it encounters the $1,700 resistance area.
$1,480 Support Is Key
As mentioned in the BTC article, the price of ETH is also facing pressure from the upcoming interest rate hike decision of the US Federal Reserve System (Fed). The not-so-optimistic macroeconomic situation also makes it difficult for ETH’s rally last week to be sustained for long, as many indicators are showing that the situation is gradually worsening.
Currently, ETH’s Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is losing momentum in a bullish zone. Meanwhile, the RSI (Relative Strength Index) is now below 50, indicating that the price of ETH is still falling further.
If it fails to break above the $1,550 resistance, the price of the coin could continue to decline. In this situation, support would be near the $1,500 region.
If the situation worsens, ETH could break the $1,500 support. Then, the new support would be at $1,480.
If ETH’s price were to break through this level, ETH will likely fall back to $1,400, which would be bad news for investors.

Ngưỡng hỗ trợ 1.480 USD là chìa khóa
Như đã đề cập trong bài viết về BTC, giá của ETH cũng phải đối mặt với áp lực từ quyết định tăng lãi suất sắp tới của Cục dự trữ liên bang Mỹ (Fed). Tình hình không mấy khả quan của kinh tế vĩ mô cũng khiến đà tăng tuần qua của ETH sẽ khó duy trì được lâu dài, khi nhiều chỉ báo đang cho thấy tình hình dần xấu đi.
Hiện, chỉ số Trung bình động hội tụ phân kỳ (Moving Average Convergence Divergence — MACD) của ETH đang mất đà trong vùng tăng giá. Trong khi đó, chỉ số RSI (Relative Strength Index) đang ở dưới 50, thể hiện rằng giá của ETH còn giảm thêm.
Nếu không vượt lên trên ngưỡng kháng cự 1.550 USD, giá của đồng tiền này có thể tiếp tục giảm. Trong tình huống này, ngưỡng hỗ trợ sẽ nằm ở gần vùng 1.500 USD.
Nếu tình hình xấu hơn, ETH có thể phá vỡ ngưỡng hỗ trợ 1.500 USD. Khi đó, ngưỡng hỗ trợ mới sẽ nằm ở mức 1.480 USD.
Trong trường hợp xấu nhất, giá của ETH có thể sẽ quay trở lại mức 1.400 USD.
