I recently came across a study which reveals that 99.8% workforce in the IT sector is incapable of remote working. Well given the current situation we are in, having a team that can deliver efficiently from home is no more a luxury but a necessity for most businesses.

In my last article I shared some do’s and dont’s for Team Leads to manage their team better during this Corona crisis. As a team member too, you need to take care of certain things to make sure your performance does not dip just because you are working from home.

Focus on your key deliverables

It is easy to get distracted by N number of things when you are working from home but once you have your key deliverables decided, prioritize and work towards them.

Update your Team Lead on progress

Understand that your Team Lead is in the same crisis as you are. In addition, she is accountable for team performance. So be nice and send regular updates on your progress so that she knows she is not in this alone. On the flip side, it will help you stay focussed on your task too.

Get timely feedback and inputs

Got stuck? No problem. All of us do. Seek your Team Lead’s advice at the right time before it is too late. She is a Team Lead for a reason.

Collaborate with other team members

Missing your co-workers? Need their help to complete some tasks? Go ahead and ask. Use technology to your advantage and collaborate.

Motivate your co-workers

To stay motivated yourself, you can keep track of how other team members’ are performing on the project. Applaud them if they achieve their deliverables on time. Help them if they seek you out for guidance. If you work together as a team, things would be easier and move faster.

If you are a Slack user, we have some good news for you. Presenting you Amby — an OKR-based performance management tool that lets you set the right goals makes sending project updates super simple and automates the feedback process for the timely help.

Till then #StaySafe, #WorkfromHome and #WinAsATeam.
