Thailand is an incredible kingdom of its unique culture, traditions, and language with palaces, temples, markets, shopping, spas, friendly people,…Especially, Bangkok — the capital of this country is a rewarding travel destination and attracts many tourists every year.

Bangkok is a large, diverse city and a fantastic selection of huge modern shopping centers with hip international and Asian fashion design brands. The best shopping malls offer unforgettable shopping experiences, in terms of diversity of products, accessible location in downtown areas, and overall shopping satisfaction. Whether you are looking for the most upscale, the trendiest, the funkiest, or the most specialized, you’ll find them in the following malls.

Central World

Central World opened in 2006 and is one of the biggest shopping plaza and complex in Thailand. The complex, which includes a hotel and office tower, is owned by Central Pattana.

The shopping mall has a well-rounded collection of shops and entertainment centers, cafes, and restaurants. You will also find beauty salons, banks, mobile stores, a cinema and an awesome supermarket on the top floor, and even an ice-skating rink (The Rink). Moreover, this mall is always buzzing with life, hosting live events and concerts on special occasions such as Christmas and Songkran (Thai New Year).

CentralWorld is divided into eight floors with each of which is dedicated to a specific type of item/ selection of goods. Particularly, Central World has Bangkok’s biggest sports shop, Super Sports (located on the 3rd floor), where you can find almost all you need when it comes to sports equipment and clothing.

Siam Paragon

Siam Paragon is a glass-and-steel luxury megamall that is divided into nine floors with each its specialty, among them women’s clothes, men’s wear, shoes, sports, furniture and so on. This mall has over 250 shops, southeast Asia’s largest aquariums, one of Bangkok’s best cinemas, an exhibition hall, the Thai Art Gallery, an opera concert hall and plenty of gourmet cafes and restaurants.

This shopping center has also been famous for international luxury brands “in residence”. You’ll find flagship stores of Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Versace on the ground floor, while IT stores and Thai bespoke stores occupy the 4th floor.

Siam Paragon is located a little west of Central World, with a walkway (bridge) between them. It takes about 10 min to walk from Central World to Siam Paragon. Siam Paragon has become recognized as one of Asia’s most luxurious shopping malls, welcoming no less than 150,000 local visitors and international tourists each day.

Icon Siam

IconSiam — Thailand’s biggest and fanciest shopping mall which is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River that runs through the city opened in Nov 2018.

This commercial complex is a fun place to visit, not only to shop but to indulge in a wide variety of delicious Thai food from all over Thailand. The whole Ground Floor (called SookSiam) is one giant food market packed with stalls and small restaurants selling all sorts of Thai food, drinks, desserts, and snacks. There is even a river on the ground floor where there is a small floating market with small boats selling food and snacks. At this, you can experience Thai arts, culture, tradition, food, and way of life from 77 provinces from all over Thailand.

When it comes to shopping, you will find shops like H&M, Zara, Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors, Dior, MAC, Sephora, Coach, Boss, YSL, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Gucci, Fendi, Versace, Lush, Levi’s, and Uniqlo. Moreover, you can also find gadgets and electronics with shops like Apple, Sony, DTAC, AIS, Huawei, BIG Camera, DJI, and Zeiss.

And one of the highlights of a visit to Icon Siam is the Iconic Multimedia Water Show that is shown at the gigantic fountain between the shopping mall and Chao Phraya River. From indoor floating markets to large fountains shows & a massive Takashimaya outlet are fun things for tourists when coming here.

MBK Center (Ma Boon Khrong Center)

MBK Center, also known as Mahboonkrong is a large and oldest shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand, popular with both tourists and locals, and busy with shoppers every day.

There are 8 floors, the center contains around 2,000 shops, restaurants, and service outlets with small shops and stalls, mostly Thai brands and designs, and not many international shops. That sells everything from clothing, fashion accessories, handbags, leather products, and luggage to furniture, mobile phones, electric appliances, cameras, stationery, and DVDs.

It doesn’t have the luxury feel of some of the other malls, but it’s an excellent place to treat yourself to a leather handbag, or an electronic device, with its reasonable prices. After shopping, you can relax with a bite to eat in the food court on the 6th level of this 8 level shoppers’ paradise. MBK Center is a busy place to shop at weekends when the locals converge on the hundreds of stores to search for bargains. It may be best to visit during the week if you want to avoid the biggest crowds.

Siam Discovery

Siam Discovery, located just next to Siam Center (just a few seconds walk between the two), is a 7-storey mall with a pleasant and leisurely shopping experience in Bangkok. It has a completely new layout with an airy open almost market-like feel to it and an urban design of bright white walls with black metal contrasts. Therefore, it is a little confusing for people who are used to a more traditional form of shopping.

Siam Discovery Mall offers bespoke products from companies all over the world and you can find an impressive variety of stuff here, everything from housewares to toys, shoes, and clothes. The highest floor of Siam Discovery is dedicated to the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, a stylish food hall with multi-national outlets, and a Virgin Interactive fitness center.

People love the layout and atmosphere of the Siam Discovery shopping center. It is easy to find your way around, feels airy, fresh, and bright.

EmQuartier

EmQuartier is located just next to Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain Station, which makes it very easy to reach. EmQuartier is one of Bangkok’s upmarket shopping malls, offering around 1,000 local and international stores, restaurants and cafes, a fitness center, and a cineplex.

The mall is divided into three different zones: the Glass Quartier, Helix Quartier, and Waterfall Quartier; one of which is within a separate building connected by several walkways.

The mall has an impressively cool and earthy design with a gigantic rainforest chandelier (yep made of real plants!) in the middle surrounded by the staircases. The facade of the building houses a vertical garden with the highest waterfall in Bangkok called Waterfall Quartier. I love how green and earthy the mall is.

A real highlight of the EmQuartier mall, however, is the stunning rooftop open-air park Panorama on the 5th floor. Here you will find a spectacular and beautiful green garden, called Quartier Water Garden, with a panoramic city view over Bangkok.

Siam Center

Siam Center is located just next to Siam Paragon, between Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery, connected with a walking area/ wide pavement. Siam Center is one of Bangkok’s trendiest fashion malls with four floors. There are dozens of boutiques by up-and-coming and renowned Thai designers, along with international fashion brands such as Steve Madden, Adidas, Victoria’s Secret, and Pull & Bear.

Siam Center has a hip, dark and dim feel to it and is very popular among Thai teenagers. It has a great food court on the top floor which is less noisy and crowded than the one at Paragon. We really like this food court and it is well worth a visit if you get hungry and need a break from your shopping. There are also some small cafes here. It’s nice to walk around at Siam Center, as it is much more peaceful and less noisy than Central World and Paragon.
