No — You’re Not Crazy. This is Collapse.
How to Have Hope Through Turbulent Transition.
Baby formula shortages | Sky-high prices at the pump and grocery store | Tampon shortages | Economic alarm bells are blaring
These were just last week’s headlines.
You’re not crazy, this does suck. When we become aware, however, we can acknowledge the difficulty, work with like-minded people, survive, thrive, and maybe even make change in our communities for better.
The first step is to realize what’s happening around us and acknowledge it out loud: Collapse is here. What can we learn from previous collapses/crises to help us get through?
I’ve been collapse aware for nearly a decade. I graduated college in 2008 and even though I had done everything by the book, none of the promises that were made to me: “Work hard, get good grades, go to a good college, get a useful degree, and your life will be stable, easy, maybe even good,” turned out to be true.
We all know what happened in 2008.
Getting a job was nearly impossible. My first paying job was as a barista at a local coffee shop making $6.50/hour. Shortly after that, I got on as a commission-only insurance salesman.
