Making Repairs

the four year old
collects screwdrivers
and the odd tool

this morning
as I heard him bang
against the quiet

I wondered
if he was trying to fix
his broken home

as I wiped his nose
again, I reconsidered
and began my Amazon search

for the drum set
that will stay at his father’s -
the perfect Christmas gift.
