From May 2–6, American Promise held its annual National Citizen Leadership Conference (NCLC), continuing our mission to unite and empower Americans to work together to address our nation’s most pressing problems. Together, we are determined to strengthen American democracy for the long haul and win our constitutional amendment to put people, not money, first in our political system.

This year’s NCLC conference was a mix of powerful speakers and programming. If you missed any of it — or want to rewatch and share these incredible conversations, ideas, and dialogues — you can watch both full days of recordings online for free!

All week, our Citizen Lobby Days, led by American Promise members from around the country, brought together constituents and their members of Congress. Working together across the political spectrum, American Promise supporters were able to discuss in detail the importance of passing our amendment to the U.S. Constitution to combat systemic corruption and to make government accountable to the voters by enacting reasonable limits on big money’s influence in our elections. If you missed our Citizen Lobby Days and want to be heard by your congressional representative, you can take action right here, right now.

The entire NCLC conference was uplifting, educational and inspirational, but a special highlight for me was the opportunity to catch up with so many of our American Promise members, including National Advisory Council member and former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. We sat down (virtually) for a conversation where he shared his unique American story and his outlook for the future of our country. I won’t mind if you jump to 1:25:05 in the recording to watch this interview, which I think you’ll find moving and engaging — regardless of your political point of view.

This year more than ever, the National Citizen Leadership Conference reminded us why we are in this together. The stakes are high and the journey is not easy. However, the people of American Promise never give up and are determined to overcome fear, apathy, division, and cynicism with hope, hard work, unity, and action. And we are winning, thanks to you and all who make up this extraordinary movement.

Let’s crank it up now. Our country needs us.
