From running away from Trump to discrediting the minimum wage and equating political opponents to Hitler, it was a very bad and busy week for the GOP’s leading gubernatorial candidates.

Kentucky’s GOP gubernatorial nominee Daniel Cameron, who previously said he was still “honored” to have Donald Trump’s endorsement after the former president was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation, is seemingly trying to outrun the now-indicted Trump. On the campaign trail yesterday, Cameron didn’t bring up Trump once during his stump speech and only spat out DC GOP talking points when asked by a reporter about the former president being indicted.

Leading Louisiana gubernatorial candidate Jeff Landry, who receives a taxpayer-funded salary as the state’s attorney general, said, “I don’t like the minimum wage.”

More of Tate Reeves’ political appointees were found to have been his major donors. Reeves has made a practice of rewarding big contributors with plum government appointments and jobs.

At the same state convention where twice indicted former president Donald Trump vowed to endorse Mark Robinson, the leading GOP candidate for governor compared his political opponents, including his likely Democratic and Jewish opponent, to Hitler.
