A Message from Duncan

Grateful. After the year we have all experienced, this word is more meaningful than ever before. As the Chair of Amici’s Board of Directors, I feel immense gratitude for this extraordinary community and the way in which you supported our campers in a year like no other.

As donors to Amici, you well know the importance of camp for all children. But it is children like the ones in Amici’s program who are bearing the burden of this pandemic. Our kids are in crisis, and now is the time for camp.

As a camp director myself, I see firsthand the extraordinary impact camp has on Amici campers. Camp gives children the space to be independent and try new things, building self esteem and a sense of identity. At camp, kids get the chance to be their best selves and find their true potential. And in challenging times like these, camp teaches kids optimism and resilience, providing the foundational skills to become the mindful leaders our society needs.

Because of you, we are well on our way to getting Amici campers back to camp in summer 2021. Camp is a place for kids to have fun, but it is also a place where kids develop a lifelong appreciation for the great outdoors, where they widen their world view and begin to see the world around them in a new light. Camp is a powerful investment in our campers and their future.

Thank you for being a part of that defining investment and thank you for being a fundamental part of the Amici community. On behalf of Amici’s Board of Directors and the staff team, thank you. I am truly and deeply grateful.

Yours in Camping,

Duncan Robertson, Chair of Amici Camping Charity’s Board of Directors Owner and Director, Onondaga Camp
